The World's Top Mobile Phone Makers

There are all sorts of different companies that are competing in the worldwide mobile industry. These companies include those that work with making cell phones themselves. There are all sorts of makers of phones, and many of the top mobile phone makers in the world have their products in various different parts of the world and have all sorts of different products available now for sale.

 

Motorola is one of those top makers of cell phones. In 1983 the company introduced the DynaTAC 8000X phone, which is the first cell phone available for commercial use. Since then the company has made a variety of phones, with its RAZR line being incredibly popular for its wide range of functions and its small, easy to carry size.

The San Diego-based group Qualcomm has worked over the years to make cell phones, but today its cell phone business is run by Kyocera. For the past decade the group has made several different phones, the most notable of these being their Rave and Slider series. The group's recent acquisition of Sanyo's mobile phone department is going to help Kyocera to continue to grow.

Research in Motion has worked in the worldwide mobile business for years. The Ontario-based group works to make cell phones in all sorts of different networks, including the CDMA and GSM networks, two of the largest mobile phone networks in the world. It is better known, of course, for making something that has truly become revolutionary in the worldwide mobile market – the Blackberry handheld device.

Sony Ericsson, a joint venture between Sony and the telecommunications group Ericsson, has a great share in the mobile phone industry. It has a variety of phones in all sorts of different classes. For instance, the C class features camera phones, the M class feature messaging phones and the W class features music oriented phones that work like Sony Walkman products. There are also phones that work exclusively with T-Mobile and Vodafone networks.

LG, the Seoul-based telecommunications group, also has a large share of the industry, especially in Asia. It has continued to grow over the years, especially after its 1995 purchase of Zenith Electronics. While the LG Cyon phones are popular it is especially notable for the handsets that the company makes, which are especially popular for those who use their phones for business purposes.

These top mobile phone makers are groups that work to make the worldwide mobile industry as great as it is. With the level of competition seen here it can be seen as to why there are so many different phones on the market and why so many more people are getting into the worldwide mobile lifestyle.
