The Main Reasons for Worldwide Mobile Phone Growth

Over the years the worldwide mobile industry has gotten to where more than a billion phones are being sold every year. In fact, it is estimated that almost half of the people in the world have some cell phone service for them, and the coverage rate is especially high. There are all sorts of reasons for cell phone growth that make it so that it can be told how popular this is.

First, cell phones have become especially affordable. In the 1980s there were some mobile phones for sale, but these were larger models that would cost a great amount of money. Usually it would cost a person at least two hundred dollars for one of these phones. Today a basic phone can be purchased for less than a hundred dollars. Some groups will even give away phones for free when customers sign up for services.

Also, there are more companies that are competing with one another for cell phone service. The worldwide mobile industry has had a great deal of competition among itself, as there are hundreds of different groups that work as cell phone providers. In fact, there are more than fifteen of these groups in the United States alone, and in India there are more than ten groups.

Because mobile phones are based on satellites and not on simple landlines people are now able to use phone services in different parts of the world. This is one of the most essential factors involving the growth of worldwide mobile services. This is also especially the case in Africa. Many remote parts of Africa did not have landline services, and some areas didn't even have any infrastructure at all. With cell phones and the ease of using satellites or easy to build cell phone towers these parts were now able to get to be used by people.

The last of the factors deals with the simplicity of some contracts. Various different groups are now offering prepaid services. This is where a customer can pay for a certain level of phone use without having to put up with any long term contracts. With this in mind it is now more affordable for people in all parts of the world to be able to use a cell phone, and today most cell phone carriers are offering these services.

Those are the various reasons for cell phone growth and why more people are getting cell phones than ever before. Cell phones are becoming more affordable, and there is a greater deal of competition in the market. Also, more parts of the world are being penetrated by cell phone coverage. With these factors it can be seen as to why cell phones are only going to become more popular over time.
